Rapper gives an impassioned rendition
Kanye West appeared on ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show last night (February 28), performing the song ‘Only One’. Click above to watch.
The track, which was recorded with input from Paul McCartney, is a tribute to Kanye’s daughter, North, and is sung from the perspective of his late mother Donda West, who never had the opportunity to meet her granddaughter.
“Nori’s my daughter’s name. I have her name right here on my chest,” said West to close the impassioned performance.
The rapper and producer did not appear as a speaking guest on the pre-recorded show and there had been rumours that he refused the opportunity to chat with Ross. When reached for comment by NME yesterday, however, an ITV source clarified that West was only ever due to perform live “which he did brilliantly.”
Just hours after appearing on the show, the rapper and producer took to Twitter to reveal that his new album will be titled ‘So Help Me God’. Tracks expected to feature on the LP include ‘Only One’ and ‘Wolves’, featuring Sia and Chicago rapper Vic Mensa.
