Footage was posted online by Kim Kardashian
Video footage of Kanye West, aged 12, reciting a poem to Martin Luther King Jr has been revealed online. Scroll down to watch now.
The video was shot in 1990 when a pre-teen West was in middle school and originally found its way online in 2012. However, Kim Kardashian re-circulated the clip yesterday via her Twitter page. Posting the clip she referenced Monday’s Martin Luther King day in the US and told her 28m followers: “I wish I posted this yesterday! How cute is my baby!!!!!!!”
“A man who fought for freedom/A man who fought for equality,” a young West says in the video. “Those who were against him/Were too blind to see/What this man was fighting for/So Blacks, Hispanics, Jews and Asians could put their foot in the door/Yes, we know that this man is great/That’s why today we celebrate/Everyone lifts their voice and sing/For a man who wanted freedom to ring/Martin Luther King is who I’m speaking of/A man whose name means love.“
Earlier this month West revealed his new single ‘Only One’, a collaboration with Paul McCartney.
Collaborator Ty Dolla $ign subsequently discussed details of another collaboration between McCartney and West, which also features vocals from Rihanna. West has postponed the release of his next LP, the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Yeezus’, after previously saying it would arrive in the autumn of 2014.
