Kanye West backing Idris Elba to be next James Bond

'You won't find a British actor who has the talent of Idris,' said the 'Yeezus' rapper

Kanye West is backing Idris Elba to be the next James Bond.

Speaking via The Sun, the ‘Yeezus’ rapper commented: “James Bond is a role made for British actors and you won’t find a British actor who has the talent of Idris. To be honest you won’t find many anywhere who have his talent.” He explained: “Artists should be visionaries. A black James Bond would be visionary no doubt.”

A recently leaked email saw Sony chairman Amy Pascal allegedly writing: “Idris should be the next Bond.” Idris Elba has spoken out about rumours linking him with the role of James Bond on numerous occasions.

Elba, who starred in acclaimed TV series The Wire as well as Luther, has long been discussed as a potential replacement for Daniel Craig when he leaves the 007 franchise. Last year Elba said: “I say it all the time, but if it was to ever happen and if I was ever to get offered that role, that would be the will of a nation.”

Previously, Elba’s Long Walk To Freedom co-star Naomie Harris revealed that Elba had met Bond producer Barbara Broccoli to discuss the possibility of playing the famous spy.

The next Bond film, Spectre, will be released in autumn 2015.
