West co-composed the pounding piano-based music heard in the reworked trailer
Kanye West has contributed to a new “remixed” version of the trailer for notorious Lindsay Lohan movie The Canyons.
West co-composed music for the “DONDA remix” of the trailer with his longtime collaborator Noah Goldstein. Press ‘play’ above to watch the reworked trailer featuring West’s pounding piano-based music.
The Canyons is the first feature film written by American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis, with whom West has recently been collaborating. Earlier this year, Ellis rewrote a scene from the film version of American Psycho for West’s ‘Yeezus’ promo video, and the author has since revealed that they are working on something else together. “Kanye and I have been meeting about writing a script for him and so that’s a project that’s kind of in the works,” Ellis explained last month (July).
Meanwhile, The Canyons is released in the US today (August 2) in cinemas as well as through iTunes and on demand services. The film’s UK release details, however, have yet to be announced.
The Canyons, which was rejected from the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year due to “quality issues”, is billed as a “contemporary LA noir… about the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their twenties”. The official synopsis also promises “deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence”.
Lohan stars opposite porn star James Deen, whose many previous screen credits include Orgy University, unSEXpected and Fuckenstein. Deen apparently endured a fraught working relationship with Lohan and has since described her behaviour on set as “like a child lashing out”
