Parkinson's UK have taken issue with the lyrics to 'Yeezus' track 'On Sight'
Parkinson’s UK have accused Kanye West of “stupidity and cruelty”, following his comments regarding the medical condition on his new album ‘Yeezus’.
The album’s opening, Daft Punk produced track ‘On Sight’ features the line “we get this bitch shaking like Parkinson’s”, to which Steve Ford, Chief Executive at Parkinson’s UK, has said: “Kanye West has shown an inexcusable level of stupidity and cruelty towards people living with an incurable condition. Life with Parkinson’s is difficult enough without becoming fodder for insensitive celebrities, who should know better, looking for their next big hit.”
He added: “People with Parkinson’s have to cope with intolerable social discrimination on a daily basis – often to the point where they are afraid to go out in public – and this sort of thoughtless, callous comment can only serve to make things even worse for them.”
Despite only releasing new album ‘Yeezus’ officially yesterday (June 18) Kanye West is just 1,800 sales behind Irish band Kodaline at the time of writing. Information from the Official Charts Company shows that ‘Yeezus’ is currently Number Three in the chart, narrowly behind Kodaline at Number One and Black Sabbath’s ’13’, which is Number Two.
