Kanye West’s unreleased track ‘Mama’s Boyfriend’ shared by Q-Tip – listen

'Mama's Boyfriend' was slated for Kanye's 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' album but didn't make the final tracklisting

A clip of Kanye West‘s unreleased track ‘Mama’s Boyfriend’ has been shared by Q-Tip, who produced it.

West first performed the track a cappella at Facebook headquarters in July 2010 to whet appetites for his ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ album. However, when the album came out that November, ‘Mama’s Boyfriend’ failed to make the final tracklisting.

Now Q-Tip has given 90 seconds of the track an airing during his Red Bull Music Academy Lecture in New York. Fast-forward to the 1:37:00 mark in the video player below to give it a listen.

“With ‘Ye, we do so many different versions of things,” Q-Tip told the lecture audience. “He did another version [of this track] with Soulja Boy, too… We had this one that we were really going to probably do… but it didn’t wind up [on the album]. But I wanted you guys to hear one of the things that I did for him. It’s kind of cool.”

Meanwhile, Kanye West is now gearing up to release his new album ‘Yeezus’, reportedly due out on June 18. Daft Punk have recently been confirmed as co-writers of his new track ‘Black Skinhead’ and other collaborators apparently set to appear on the record include Frank Ocean, Daft Punk, Skrillex, Tyler, The Creator, RZA, James Blake, John Legend, Jay Electronica, Travi$ Scott, Chief Keef and Ma$e.
