Kim Kardashian defends Kanye West over controversial Taylor Swift ‘Famous’ lyric

Swift 'totally approved' of the lyric, Kardashian says

Kanye West‘s wife Kim Kardashian has addressed the controversial lyric about Taylor Swift on her husband’s recent track ‘Famous’.

The track – which features on West’s ‘The Life Of Pablo’ album – made headlines with the lyric: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that bitch famous”. The line refer to the infamous incident when West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV VMAs.

West initially claimed that he had asked for Taylor’s approval of the lyric before releasing the track and that she gave her blessing. Swift later denied this and appeared to subtly refer to West’s lyrics during her acceptance speech at the Grammy Awards in February, saying: “I want to say to all the young women out there [that] there are going to be people along the way who are going to try and undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.”

Now, speaking in a new interview with GQ, Kardashian has claimed that Swift “totally knew that that was coming out” and “totally approved that” song. Kim also claims to have video evidence of Kanye’s alleged conversation with Taylor about the matter, adding that Swift later sent a letter with her attorney that said “Don’t ever let that footage come out of me saying that. Destroy it.”

“She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t [know],” Kardashian says in the interview. “I swear, my husband gets so much shit for things [when] he really was doing proper protocol and even called to get it approved. What rapper would call a girl that he was rapping a line about to get approval?”

Kardashian also claims that Swift told West: “When I get on the Grammy red carpet, all the media is going to think that I’m so against this, and I’ll just laugh and say, ‘The joke’s on you, guys. I was in on it the whole time.'”

Swift’s camp have released a statement, saying: “Taylor does not hold anything against Kim Kardashian as she recognizes the pressure Kim must be under and that she is only repeating what she has been told by Kanye West.”

The statement adds: “However, that does not change the fact that much of what Kim is saying is incorrect. Kanye West and Taylor only spoke once on the phone while she was on vacation with her family in January of 2016 and they have never spoken since. Taylor has never denied that conversation took place.”

“It was on that phone call that Kanye West also asked her to release the song on her Twitter account, which she declined to do. Kanye West never told Taylor he was going to use the term ‘that bitch’ in referencing her. A song cannot be approved if it was never heard. Kanye West never played the song for Taylor Swift. Taylor heard it for the first time when everyone else did and was humiliated. Kim Kardashian’s claim that Taylor and her team were aware of being recorded is not true, and Taylor cannot understand why Kanye West, and now Kim Kardashian, will not just leave her alone.”

Taylor Swift recently said that the public are “so bored” of her alleged feud with Kanye West, telling Vogue: “I don’t want to add anything to it, because then there’s just more.”

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston are dating after they were pictured kissing on a beach.
