Kanye West‘s guerilla gig in New York City was cancelled earlier this morning (June 6) amid scenes of chaos outside the venue.
After the final day of the city’s Governors Ball festival was cancelled due to bad weather, preventing West from delivering his headline set, the rapper apparently organised a last-minute show at the Webster Hall venue to make amends.
West told fans his set would begin at 2am, which prompted thousands to flock to streets outside the intimate venue in the East Village.
On Twitter, fans described the situation outside the venue as “absolute madness” and “straight up bedlam”.

“No one else can do this,” one fan tweeted. “Kanye West transcend hip hop man shutting everything down at 2 on a Monday morning.”
Webster Hall has since told those expecting a set from West to head home, tweeting: “There is no late show at Webster Hall tonight. Please get home safely.”

Kim Kardashian had told fans she would be live-streaming her husband’s set on her app. However, she has apparently now told fans watching on the app that there will be no performance, adding that West was “calling everyone in the background trying to find a way to perform”, but ultimately to no avail.
