Schoolboy Q has shared the video for his latest song ‘THat Part’.
Kanye West, who features on the track, appears in the video together with the Top Dawg rapper. The pair jump around a house surrounded by a crew in the video, which is edited with some trippy visual effects. At one point, West even halts a school bus and starts rapping in front of it.
The video also includes an apparent reference to a line of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘untitled 02 l 06.23.2014’, a track from this year’s ‘untitled unmastered’. According to Pitchfork, if you call the number that appears at the end of the video you can hear the following answer phone message: “Hello, Billy, it’s Top Dawg. Leave a message, I might call you back”. Most likely an allusion to Kendrick’s “Get Top on the phone!” ad-lib.
Schoolboy Q’s fourth studio album is due out July 8, according to the video’s description. ‘THat Part’ is the second song to be released from the as-yet-untitled album, following on from ‘Groovy Tony’ in April.
Last month, tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment was reported to have been stolen from Kanye West’s studio. According to TMZ, the police believe the crime was committed by someone Kanye knows, although they don’t have any suspects as yet.
