Kanye West beats 50 Cent to Number One

Kanye West has beaten rap rival 50 Cent to the UK Number One album spot today (September 16) with his third album, ‘Graduation’. 50 Cent’s latest album, ‘Curtis’, entered the chart at Number Two.

50 Cent had recently said that he would quit music if Kanye West’s new album sold more than his.

Elsewhere in the album chard Hard-Fi slipped from the top spot to Number Six with their second album, ‘Once Upon A Time In The West’.

There were notable new entries for KT Tunstall, who entered the album chart at Number Three with her latest set, ‘Drastic Fantastic’. Kano’s second album ‘London Town’ debuted at Number 14, while The Go! Team’s second, ‘Proof Of Youth’, entered at Number 21.

KlaxonsMercury Music Prize-winning album, ‘Myths Of The Near Future’, rose to number 34 in the charts, with the band feeling the benefit of their raised profile for the second week in a row.

Meanwhile in the UK singles chart Sean Kingston held on to the top spot with his song, ‘Beautiful Girls’, with little change elsewhere in the Top Ten.

Elvis Presley entered the chart at 14 with the reissue of ‘(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear’, while Interpol missed out on the top 40, going in at Number 44 with thair latest single, ‘Mammoth’.
