Kanye West made a typically outspoken interview during an appearance on Ellen yesterday (May 18).
The rapper appeared on the day-time show to promote new album ‘The Life Of Pablo’ and was quizzed on everything from his Twitter habits (asked if Kim Kardashian should get to approve his tweets, Kanye replied “Absolutely not”) to tweeting Mark Zuckerberg for financial help earlier this year (“I should have used Facebook.”)
A large part of the interview, however, was given over to West and an extended discussion of what motivates him at the moment. Comparing his life to Will Smith film The Pursuit Of Happiness, the rapper quoted Rakim’s ‘I Ain’t No Joke’ and said A Tribe Called Quest’s Phife Dawg was an early influence. “Picasso is dead,” he said, adding, “Steve Jobs is dead. Walt Disney is dead. Name somebody living that you can mention in the same breath as them.”

Earlier this week West won an honourary Webby Award for reaching “incredible digital heights” with his internet presence. This year’s awards ceremony was held in New York on May 16 with West accepting his prize via a video message.
