Kanye West helped nurse his brother-in-law Lamar Odom back to health from the coma that threatened to end his life, according to Kim Kardashian.
Odom, a former American basketball ace who is married to but estranged from Kim’s sister Khloe, was found unconscious in the Love Ranch, a brothel in Nevada, back in October 2015. He suffered several strokes, as well as kidney failure, and was unconscious for several days – and hospitalised for more than a month.
West’s role in helping him back onto his feet was revealed on Sunday night, during an episode of E!’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
“There was a moment when Lamar couldn’t really express himself and he couldn’t really talk, but he could hear what we were saying to him,” said Kim during the episode. “Kanye really felt we can cure him through music, like we can get him to talk. He would go to the hospital and he would rap and sing, and I think Lamar started to get his function back and started to talk once he started to listen to a lot of music.”
“Kanye’s music helped me so much,” Odom, who has suffered from substance addiction issues in the past, is reported to have told Kim. “That’s when I realized I could start thinking again and things were coming back to me and I could start articulating it.”
Kanye is believed to have played early versions of his current album “The Life Of Pablo” to Odom.
