Kanye West has set up an Instagram account.

The rapper – known for being a prolific tweeter – suggested that he was considering joining the photo and video-based social network back in March, tweeting: “I was thinking about getting an Instagram but only on one condition… No one can ask me or try to tell me what to Instagram… It’s my art… My tweets are a form of contemporary art only compromised by people trying to tell me what to tweet and not to tweet… Non artist trying to grab the paint brush”.

Today (Sunday, September 18), West finally joined Instagram (gaining 347k followers correct at time of publishing) and shared his first post, a screenshot from Total Recall. See below.

Just earlier this week, West tweeted that he has gotten rid of his phone so he can focus on “creating”.

Writing on Twitter on September 14, West said: “I got rid of my phone so I can have air to create”. Fans responded by asking how he was able to tweet, with one bringing up an image proving that West had indeed tweeted from Twitter Web Client.
