Kanye West has said that he’s “been fighting” for the position of creative director at Adidas.
The rapper has been working with the sportswear brand since 2013, with the two having regularly combined forces – most notably on the hugely-popular line of Yeezy shoes, which debuted in February 2015.
West has long eyed a greater position of creative seniority at Adidas, and further spoke about his ambition of becoming the brand’s creative director during an interview with Hood By Air founder Shayne Oliver which was published this week by Interview Magazine.
After disclosing his belief that Oliver should’ve become the permanent creative designer at Helmut Lang, West then revealed his own aspirations to be given that very same title at Adidas.
“Of this entire crew that came up around the same time, you are the most deserving of one of these positions,” West told Oliver. “So it’s interesting to me when you get these situations, because, like, I’ve been fighting and struggling and arguing and talking and having conversation after conversation about being the creative director of Adidas.
“It’s just fucking obvious, right?” he added.
Earlier this month, West received an unlikely shout-out from Drake after the latter’s 2009 mixtape ‘So Far Gone’ finally hit streaming services.
