Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and Ty Dolla Sign reportedly sued over Kids See Ghosts collaboration

Actor and performer Ronald Oslin Bobb-Semple isn't happy with the trio

Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and Ty Dolla Sign are reportedly being sued over their Kids See Ghosts collaboration.

Dolla Sign worked with West and Cudi on the track ‘Freeee (Ghost Town Pt. 2)’, which featured on their self-titled 2018 album.

Now, The Blast and TMZ report actor and performer Ronald Oslin Bobb-Semple has filed a lawsuit against them, Def Jam, and Universal Music, claiming the trio “exploited the actual voice, words, and performance” of his recording ‘The Spirit Of Marcus Garvey (Garvey speaks to an all-Black audience)’ without his permission or giving him any monetary compensation.

According to court documents, Bobb-Semple’s “voice and authorship is heard in the introductory words” of the song. He is said to be seeking unspecified damages as well as an injunction against the named artists and record labels in an effort to stop them from profiting from his work in the future.

Neither West, Cudi, or Dolla Sign have commented on the lawsuit at the time of writing.

‘Kids See Ghosts’ was released in June 2018 as one of West’s string of Wyoming albums. He and Cudi gave their debut performance under the moniker at Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival last year.

Meanwhile, it was revealed earlier this week that West’s publishing contract with EMI stipulates that he can never retire.

According to reports, it states that he must “remain actively involved in writing, recording and producing Compositions and Major Label Albums, as [his] principle occupation.”

It continues: “At no time during the Term will you seek to retire as a songwriter, recording artist or producer or take any extended hiatus during which you are not actively pursuing Your musical career in the same basic manner as You have pursued such career to date.”
