Birth of their newborn was announced this week
Kanye West has stated that he and Kim Kardashian haven’t yet decided upon a name for their newborn child, but that Donda – named after his late mother – would be “fire”.
West and Kardashian’s third child was born on Monday (January 15) at 12.47am, with the baby girl weighing 7lbs and 6oz.
It was reported back in June 2017 that the pair had hired a surrogate to give birth to their third child, after doctors warned of potential health risks if Kim carried her own child. The couple announced their surrogate was pregnant in September 2017.
TMZ reports that West told photographers on Wednesday (January 17) that they hadn’t decided on a name yet. When one photographer suggested Donda, Kanye replied that it was a “fire” idea.
Kanye’s mother, Donda, died of complications from cosmetic surgery in November 2007. He later named his company, DONDA, after his late mother.
Kardashian announced the birth of the couple’s third child earlier this week, writing: “She’s here! Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl”.
“We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care.”
“North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”
Kanye married reality TV star Kardashian in 2014. Their first-born, daughter North “Nori” West, was born in 2013, with son Saint West following in 2015.
