Kanye West to visit Donald Trump for White House lunch this week

Mr West goes to Washington....

Kanye West is to visit US President Donald Trump on Thursday for a lunch at the White House, it has been confirmed.

The pair are expected to discuss prison reform, gang reform and “manufacturing resurgence” in America.

Kanye, who has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, will also meet his son-in-law Jared Kushner, a White House senior adviser.

Confirming the meeting, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said they will discuss, among other topics, “how to prevent gang violence, and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago.”

The lunch comes only weeks after Kanye doubled down on his support for Trump as he hosted Saturday Night Live.

“So many times I talk to a white person and [they] say: ‘How could you like Trump, he’s racist?”, Kanye told the SNL audience off-air.

“Well, if I was concerned about racism I would’ve moved out of America a long time ago.”

Kanye recently encouraged NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, the first player to famously kneel during the pre-match national anthem in 2016, to meet Trump.

In April, Kanye also released Ye vs The People, a track which voiced his support for the US president.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump yesterday responded after Taylor Swift confirmed she would be voting for the Democrats in the US midterm elections.

Hitting out at the star after confirming she would not vote for Republican Marsha Blackburn in Tennessee, Trump said: “I’m sure Taylor Swift doesn’t know anything about her.”

“Let’s say that I like Taylor’s music about 25% less now.”
