Festive single features a guest rap from 'Luther' actor Idris Elba
Noel Fielding and Kasabian‘s Serge Pizzorno have revealed their long-discussed Christmas single. The track features a guest rap by actor Idris Elba and can be streamed below.
‘Can’t Wait For Christmas’ is released under Fielding and Pizzorno’s Loose Tapestries moniker, with the actor and musician appearing under nicknames Vacuum Cloud and The Decision. The video for the single was directed by Nigel Coan who has previously worked with Fielding on his Luxury Comedy series.
The song’s surreal lyrics include: ‘Thank your for the joystick, than you for socks, thank you for the Rolex, thank you for the yacht, but the stationery, it be going in the dustbin’ and ‘My wife is a walnut, a Christmas walnut” while Idris Elba raps about wanting an XBox.

Speaking to NME in 2014, Pizzorno praised the speed at which Fielding works and also talked about getting Idris Elba to rap about Christmas while making the music for the second series of Luxury Comedy.
“What’s so amazing about Loose Tapestries is that it can be absolutely anything. On this new record there’s an all-out pure disco tune, which I could never get away with usually. It’s got the most incredible line in it that goes, ‘Cocks in all directions / From flaccid to erections.’ I don’t think it gets better than that,” Pizzorno said at the time.
Discussing Luther and The Wire actor Elba’s involvement, he added: “We’ve got Idris Elba rapping on a Christmas song. He was doing the Mandela film at the time and we were laughing, saying, ‘Imagine doing that and then coming down and dropping a Christmas rap on a medieval psych-prog record.”
