Kasabian’s Serge on Kanye West Glastonbury set: ‘I was really excited but lost interest by the end’

The rapper headlined the Worthy Farm event last month

Kasabian‘s Serge Pizzorno has spoken of his disappointment felt after watching Kanye West‘s Glastonbury headline set.

The guitarist, who headlined Worthy Farm with his band in 2014, had performed at Rock Werchter festival in Belgium before watching footage of the rapper’s Glastonbury appearance.

“We got home and I put it on and for the first 20 minutes I thought was incredible,” Pizzorno told NME.

“I was really excited, you know, and then I just lost interest by the end, you know, which is a real shame”.

The Leicester-based musician cited a lack of preparation as a possible reason for West’s seemingly lacklustre performance.

He said: “You know what it’s like with Glastonbury; it’s the opportunity to kind of right some wrongs, you know, prove people wrong, you know, prove yourself. Not that he has to, but it would’ve been nice if he’d maybe thought about it a bit more, you know?

“But it was funny seeing him on that cherry picker, like, hanging on for dear life and I thought ‘There’s no way he’s rehearsed that’. You know what I mean?”

“It was quite funny seeing him get out of the harness for that 20 minutes, but, Kanye’s Kanye, you know, I don’t think he cares,” he added.
