And what's more, it's guitarist Sergio's birthday...

Kasabian completed the final show of their biggest ever UK tour last night (December 15) with a storming performance in LONDON.

The Leicester five-piece rounded off what they described as a “fucking amazing year” with a 70-minute set made up of chart hits and tracks from their debut album at Brixton Academy.

They kicked off the show with ’I.D.’ and went on to perform forthcoming single ‘Cutt Off’, ‘Processed Beats’, ‘Reason Is Treason’, ‘Running Battle’, live favourite ‘55’ and B-side ‘The Nightworkers’.

It was a special night for guitarist Sergio Pizzorno, who celebrated his 24th birthday.

Singer Tom Meighan made a birthday announcement just before the group tore into album track ‘U. Boat’ and joked that his band mate was “getting old”.

Kasabian rounded off a triumphant night with a storming rendition of ‘Club Foot’ before they left the stage.

After the show Sergio was presented with a cake and a small crowd sang ‘Happy Birthday’.

Speaking backstage Meighan told NME.COM: “Serge grabbed hold of me tonight and said, ‘Brother, this is what we’ve been waiting for all our lives.’ To play Brixton Academy to a sold-out crowd sent shivers down my spine. I had tears in my eyes man. It was fucking unbelievable. That is what living is all about.

“What a fucking way to end the year. It’s Serge’s birthday as well. I really couldn’t ask for more.”

Sergio added: “Its been a been a real celebration for me tonight. We have been branded as these loudmouth thugs but anyone who has ever met us and anyone who has ever come to our gigs knows that’s not true. We’ve got heart and soul and people have seen that on stage tonight.

“A year ago we had a shit sound when we played here with Cooper Temple Clause and supported Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. We played here again tonight and we didn’t give a fuck. We gave everyone a buzz.”

Kasabian played:

‘Cutt Off’

‘Reason Is Treason’
