Kasabian back Glastonbury World Cup ban – watch

Vital England game could coincide with Saturday headliner slot at Worthy Farm event

Glastonbury headliners Kasabian have defended the decision made by organisers of the festival to not show any of this year’s World Cup.

Should England qualify, their first knockout match will coincide with the Saturday night headliner at Worthy Farm. With that in mind, Emily and Michael Eavis have confirmed that no games will be screened over the festival weekend so fans can focus on the music.

Speaking to NME, Kasabian’s Serge Pizzorno says he agrees with the decision, “You’re there for psychedelia, not football.”
While frontman Tom Meighan adds, “You’ve gone to the wrong gig if you want England.”
