Kate Bush has ‘no plans whatsoever’ to play live again

'Wuthering Heights' singer had hinted at a live return earlier this year

Kate Bush has put the lid on rumours that she’s set to play live again, just weeks after hinting at plans to return to the stage.

Speaking to BBC 6 Music, the singer said she felt too “engrossed” in writing material for a new album to consider touring.

“I haven’t got any plans to do any live shows whatsoever. I’m very much engrossed in trying to making new material,” Bush said. “I’m extremely flattered that people are interested.”

Bush hasn’t hit the road since her one and only tour in 1979. “People always presume I didn’t enjoy that tour. I did enjoy it,” she commented.

Last month, the singer appeared to hint at a possible live return, stating she wanted to play some shows again before she became “too ancient”.

She also recently revealed she had almost finished writing a brand new album and admitted that it is “stressful” that there are such long gaps between her albums.

Bush released ‘Director’s Cut’ – a compilation of re-recorded material from her 1989 album ‘The Sensual World’ and 1993’s ‘The Red Shoes’ – earlier this month.
