Kate Bush to publish her first-ever book of lyrics

'How to Be Invisible' will also feature an introduction by 'Cloud Atlas' author David Mitchell

Kate Bush has announced the forthcoming publication of a new book of her lyrics.

How To Be Invisible: Selected Lyrics will be the very first published collection of Bush’s lyrics, which the artist has chosen and arranged herself.

Set to be published by Faber on December 6 as a cloth-bound book, the collection will also contain an introduction written by Cloud Atlas author David Mitchell.

Writing in a press release, Mitchell praised Bush’s lasting creative influence. “For millions around the world Kate is way more than another singer-songwriter: she is a creator of musical companions that travel with you through life.

“One paradox about her is that while her lyrics are avowedly idiosyncratic, those same lyrics evoke emotions and sensations that feel universal.”

Late last month, Bush made a rare public statement as she paid tribute to her friend and collaborator Lindsay Kemp, who passed away at the age of 80 on August 25.

“The world has lost a truly original and great artist of the stage. To call him a mime artist is like calling Mozart a pianist,” Bush wrote in her tribute piece. “He was very brave, very funny and above all, astonishingly inspirational. There was no-one quite like Lindsay.”

Back in July, hundreds of Kate Bush fans across the world recreated the artist’s video for ‘Wuthering Heights’ to mark the track’s 40th anniversary.
