Kate Nash is back with a ‘teenage diary’ album

The star will release her first album in five years soon

Kate Nash has announced details of her fourth studio album, ‘Yesterday Was Forever’.

The musician last released an album in 2013 with ‘Girl Talk’. Since then, she has starred in the Netflix comedy about a female wrestling group called GLOW, playing the character of Rhonda, and released an EP titled ‘Agenda’ last April.

‘Yesterday Was Forever’ will be released on March 30 and is the result of Nash’s 2017 Kickstarter campaign. You can watch the video for the record’s first single, ‘Drink About You’, below.

In a press release, Nash said: “‘Yesterday Was Forever’ is an excerpt from a teenage diary. I used to be mocked for being a silly little girl writing in her teenage diary, but these days I feel like the teenage girl is far more respected than she used to be and it’s teenage girls that have fought for that and taught people that lesson.

“‘Yesterday Was Forever’ is your dreams being trapped in a time capsule, being caught in a moment for too long, and looking back through heart shaped glasses,” she added.

Speaking about ‘Drink About You’, she said the track was about “breaking up with someone and becoming obsessed with an idea of who they are to the point you can’t think of anything else or move on.” “It’s an unhealthy obsession, you imagine things are better than they are and latch on to whatever you can about the relationship that could be turned to good,” she explained. “And you deal with the pain in an unhealthy way too.”

Last year, Nash criticised BuzzFeed following an article that jokingly claimed that the singer no longer “exists”. ““She was the cute vintage-dress-wearing girl we all wanted to be back in 2007. Presumably these days she’s wearing baggy jumpers and DMs but who knows??” read the piece.
