Lady Gaga and Katy Perry scenes pulled from ‘The Muppets’ film

Both scenes have been cut due to time restrictions

Scenes that were due to feature Lady Gaga and Katy Perry have both been cut from the forthcoming film The Muppets.

The singers’ scenes have been axed as they would have given the film close to a three hour running time, writer/ producer Clint Morris told AOL.

He said of the cuts: “Rumour has it Madonna’s ‘Vogue’ was somehow involved (which makes sense considering Piggy is the editor of Paris Vogue magazine in the film),” he said, before adding: “Gaga would have gone head-to-head with Miss Piggy in a sequence”.

The scene would have featured The Office’s John Krasinski, Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet, and The Hangover’s Ed Helms. It would have served as Gaga’s big-screen debut.

As for Perry, writer Nick Stoller said: “At one point we had squirrels singing, ‘I Kissed A Squirrel’ or it was Miss Piggy singing “‘I Kissed A Squirrel’ and I Liked It.” More and more squirrels are lining up to kiss her, and she’s getting weirded out.”

The film is due to be released in the UK on February 12 of next year.
