Katy Perry equals Michael Jackson’s singles record

Singer also becomes first female and only living artist to notch up five US Number Ones

Katy Perry has equalled Michael Jackson‘s record for US Number One singles on an album.

The singer has hit the summit of the Billboard charts with her fifth chart topper ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)’, a feat not managed since Michael Jackson released five tracks from ‘Bad’ which hit the top spot between 1987-88. Perry is also the first female and only living artist to achieve such a milestone.

Her third album, 2010’s ‘Teenage Dream’, has given the star chart-toppers with ‘California Gurls (feat Snoop Dogg)’, ‘Firework’, ‘ET (feat Kanye West)’ and the album’s title track.
She also scored a sixth consecutive US Number One after the last single to be released from 2008’s ‘One Of The Boys’, ‘Waking Up In Vegas’, also topped the charts.
