Lenny Kravitz to perform with Katy Perry at Super Bowl 2015

The performance will take place at the University Of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona on February 1

Katy Perry has invited singer Lenny Kravitz to perform with her at the halftime show at this year’s Super Bowl.

Perry is set to headline the American football event, which sees the annual championship match of the USA’s National Football League.

Perry will take to the pitch at the University Of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona on February 1, recently extending an invitation to Kravitz (which he later accepted via Twitter.

Last year’s Super Bowl halftime show saw Bruno Mars performing with special guests Red Hot Chili Peppers, drawing a record 112 million viewers in the US alone.

Since the 2014 event, the NFL has reportedly been demanding that artists will have to pay to appear at future shows. The NFL has yet to confirm the alleged move, but a spokesperson sent Rolling Stone a statement showing how musicians’ sales increase by around 150-400 per cent if they appear at American sports’ showcase event.

Reports claimed that the NFL invited the management of Coldplay, Katy Perry and Rihanna to submit bids if they wanted to appear at the 2015 event. Perry made her position on the matter clear on October 4, when she told ESPN’s College Game Day: “I’m not the kind of girl who’d pay to play the Super Bowl.”
