Katy Perry banned from wearing spinning bra by tour insurance company

The singer's spinning peppermint bra is declared a safety hazard by tour insurers

Katy Perry‘s infamous “spinning peppermint bra” has been declared a safety hazard by tour insurers.

During a recent live performance, the rotating undergarment caused an embarrassing accident for the singer. Talking to The Sun, Perry recalled: “My hair got caught in the wheels of my spinning peppermint bra and began to coil around and around. I’m forced to just go with it so, by the end of the song, it looked quite like I was licking my own tit. What a girl does for her art.”

Although Perry brushed off the incident, her tour insurers were alarmed and have since launched a vendetta against the brassiere. Perry explained: “I keep being told the insurers are worried I will injure my neck. I seriously doubt it could be lethal but they want a new bra designed that will not allow hair to be caught up.”

The spinning peppermint bra, which you can see on the right of the screen, is one of several novelty lingerie items in Katy Perry‘s closet. In the video for her Number One single ‘California Gurls’, Perry dons a bikini top that squirts whipped cream from each cup. She also owns a bra designed to look like two cupcakes and another that features candy canes hanging from each nipple.

The singer’s documentary film, Katy Perry: A Part Of Me, opened in cinemas last Thursday (July 5). Perry is currently working on a follow-up to her 2010 album, ‘Teenage Dream’, which she has promised will be “real fucking dark”.
