The US based Parents Television Council has called the footage 'disgusting, vile content'
Ke$ha has run into trouble for drinking her own pee on TV.
Footage of the popstar tasting her own urine was due to air last night (May 21) in the US on Ke$ha’s own MTV reality show, Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life, but before the programme was broadcast the Parents Television Council warned viewers about the show’s “disgusting, vile content”, reports Billboard.
The Parents Television Council – which includes singer Billy Ray Cyrus on its advisory board – is a conservative advocacy group which favours censorship and seeks to bring what it perceives to be ‘family values’ back to the entertainment industry.
In a letter sent to its supporters, the PTC lambasted Ke$ha’s show and said: “Why should we have to pay for this kind of garbage just so we can get access to Discovery, Disney, or the Golf channel? It’s outrageous — and it shouldn’t be that way. Consumers deserve choice. We should all have the ability to choose and pay for only the channels we want to watch … but the cable industry won’t let that happen without a fight.”
Ke$ha previously spoke out about drinking her own urine, saying that it was “pretty gross”. In the Hollywood Reporter, she explained: “I’m also just one that doesn’t shy away from things. I’m not good at saying ‘no’ so I just figure, fuck it, I’ll try anything once. So I tried it. I wouldn’t recommend it. It was pretty gross. And I don’t think it really did anything very beneficial to me so, yeah, I wouldn’t probably do it again.”
Ke$ha has been added to the bill for this summer’s T In The Park. The festival, which takes place in Balado, Kinross between July 12-14 will be headlined by Mumford & Sons, Rihanna and The Killers.
