Ke$ha sued for $14million by former managers

DAS Communications want damages from singer and producer Dr Luke

Ke$ha is being sued by her former managers for over $14million (£8.9million).

DAS Communications, who managed the ‘We R Who We R’ singer early in her career, allege that she broke her contract with them in 2008 after being encouraged to do so by producer Lukasz ‘Dr Luke’ Gottwald, who went on to become her manager.

Speaking to MTV News, Ken Freundlich, who is representing DAS, said: “DAS was Ke$ha‘s manager since the beginning of 2006, and there was a written agreement, and they worked closely, and sometime in September 2008 Dr Luke, for his own personal gain, somehow induced her to breach that contract.”

Freundlich added that he believed the singer’s decision was “without justification” and they’d indicted her “for breach of contract and Luke for interference”.

He also said lawyers acting for Ke$ha and Dr Luke “tried to delay us. They made motions. The judge denied all their motions and now we’re going forward. We’re going to have our day in court”.

Asked how he and his legal team had come up with a figure of $14million, Freundlich said: “We don’t know exactly how much, but we assume it’s in that range. She’s been quite successful.”

Ke$ha has in turn filed a suit against DAS for “acting as an illegal talent agent”. Both cases are yet to come to court.
