The NME Carling Award winner joins Guru's Jazzmatazz onstage in Brixton...

KELIS made an unnanounced guest appearance at the encore of the concluding date of GURU’s JAZZMATAZZ tour at the LONDON BRIXTON ACADEMY last night (April 5), NME.COM can exclusively reveal.

Looking glamorous in tight-fitting denim, the NME Carling Award winner performed just one song, ‘Superlove’, from last year’s ‘Jazzmatazz’ album, before being joined by Guru’s other guest artists who performed throughout the show – Lina, N’Dea Davenport and saxophonist Courtney Pine.

A spokesperson for Kelis told NME.COM that the Gang Starr legend Guru specially requested that she perform, and she travelled to London for this one appearance.

Kelis‘ second album, provisionally titled ‘Wonderland’, is scheduled for a September 2001 release.
