Kendrick Lamar unveils ‘For Free?’ video – watch

California rapper's latest is definitely NSFW!

Kendrick Lamar has launched a surprise new video, for ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ interlude track ‘For Free?’

Featuring lots of brass, a choir and plenty of Lamar’s colorful vocals, the video sees the cutting rapper ‘haunt’ a mansion. He argues with the occupant – his lover – whilst popping up in open windows or standing on hallway tables, responding to a long list of complaints about the pair’s relationship.

The video is punctuated with the phrase “this dick ain’t free”, and isn’t shy in talking sex positions, etiquette and…er… size. The video was directed by Joe Weil & The Little Homies, and produced by Sam Canter, Christian Sutton, Haute Culture and Top Dawg Entertainment.

Lamar launched the latest footage via Twitter, captioned simply ‘For Free’:

Lamar’s also spoken extensively to NME recently, including on his lyrics, commenting specifically on the use of the ‘N-word’.

“The closest I can do to stopping is putting the root word, negus, on my album. But I don’t know if I’m there mentally to stop saying the N-word yet. I dunno, maybe one day. That’s 27 years of reversing that word, I probably been saying that since I was one-year-old”, he explained.

The singer also commented a visit to the South African Apartheid-era prison complex where Nelson Mandela was held, and it’s influence on ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’.

‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ was released in mid-March, and peaked at number one in the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Lamar is currently touring the US and Canada, and is set to play the main stage at the Reading and Leeds festivals over the August bank holiday weekend.
