Midweek chart update: Kendrick Lamar set for first UK Number One album

New entries also come from Mark Knopfler, Marina & the Diamonds and Bjork

Kendrick Lamar is Number One in the Official Album Chart at today’s midweek stage with his new album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’.

The album was released on Monday (March 9). Official Chart Company data reveals that the album is Number One at today’s midweek stage, 3000 combined chart sales ahead of nearest competitor, Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler’s new album ‘Tracker’.

Other new entries so far this week come from Marina & The Diamonds who enters the chart at Number Six with her third album ‘Froot’. Other new entries in this week’s Official Album Chart at today’s midweek stage include Bjork (10), Sleeping With Sirens (20), Modest Mouse (21), The Veronicas (29) and Tobias Jesso Jr. (35).

Meanwhile, in the Official UK Singles Chart, Sam Smith looks set to stay at Number One with the new version of his song ‘Lay Me Down’ featuring John Legend.

The song marks Smith’s fourth chart-topping single and the first for Legend, beating his previous peak of Number Two with ‘All Of Me’.
