Kendrick Lamar confirms ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ tracklist

New album features the singles 'The Blacker The Berry' and 'i'

Kendrick Lamar has revealed the tracklist for his new album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’.

The record is the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Good Kid, MAAD City’, with the Compton rapper recently confirming that the record will be released on March 23.

Lamar’s two most recent releases, ‘i’ and ‘The Blacker The Berry’, both feature on the album’s 16-song tracklisting. The latter was produced by Boi-1da, and references the 2012 killing of African American teenager Trayvon Martin. ‘i’ won Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance in February.

Speaking in a recent interview about the album, Lamar said the music ranges from “the intensely personal to the swaggeringly aggressive”.

The ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ is as follows:

‘Wesley’s Theory’
‘For Free? (Interlude)’
‘King Kunta’
‘Institutionalized’
‘These Walls’
‘U’
‘Alright’
‘For Sale? (Interlude)’
‘Momma’
‘Hood Politics’
‘How Much A Dollar Cost’
‘Complexion’
‘The Blacker The Berry’
‘You Ain’t Gotta Lie (Momma Said)’
‘i’
‘Mortal Man’

Lamar recently shared the album’s artwork online. It features a number of men, women and children in front of the White House in Washington, DC. Lamar posted the following comment next to the image: “Don’t all dogs go to heaven? Don’t Gangsta’s boogie? Do owl shit stank? Lions, Tigers & Bears. But TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY. Its the American dream n***a….”

Lamar will also appear at Wireless Festival in July, as will Drake, Avicii, David Guetta and Nicki Minaj. The event takes place between July 3-5 at Finsbury Park in London. Knife Party, Gorgon City and Childish Gambino join Kendrick Lamar and Avicii on July 4.
