Kesha replaces her lawyer Mark Gregaros

The attorney was sued for defamation by Dr. Luke

Kesha has replaced lawyer Mark Gregaros on her legal team. Gregaros sued Dr. Luke on her behalf in October 2014 but was later sued by Dr. Luke for defamation, and more recently represented her through a pair of major legal setbacks.

The attorney’s previous clients include Michael Jackson and Chris Brown. In 2014, Geragos implied on Twitter that Dr. Luke raped Lady Gaga; Lady Gaga firmly denied the claim and Dr. Luke subsequently sued Geragos for defamation.

According to Pitchfork, online court records show that Geragos’ firm has been replaced by Daniel Petrocelli and his firm O’Melveny & Myers. Petrocellii has previously won a civil suit against O.J. Simpson.

It was reported that Kesha will testify under oath against her former mentor Dr Luke, who she has accused of sexual assault.

Earlier this month (April), the singer failed in her legal bid to be released from her contract with the pop producer (Lukasz Gottwald). Kesha accuses him of drugging and raping her a decade ago.

In October 2014, the pop star filed a lawsuit against Gottwald, citing “mental manipulation, emotional abuse and sexual assault”. Dr Luke denies the allegations.

A New York judge threw the singer’s contract release appeal case out of court after Sony said they will not push the artist to work exclusively with Dr Luke.

Zedd is signed to Interscope, a subsidiary of Sony’s rival Universal.
