'True Colours' is streaming now
The singer – who has been battling to be released from her contract with former mentor Dr Luke, who she accuses of rape – first performing the song after joining Zedd during his opening weekend set at Coachella.
‘True Colors’ is a cover of Zedd’s song of the same name, first released in 2015. “This is more than a song. it’s a declaration of my truth #truecolors,” Kesha tweeted.
Kesha sings: “I’m not afraid/All my life, one page at a time/I’ll show you mine, my true colors/No I won’t apologize for the fire in my eyes/Let me show you my true colors/It ain’t your rainbow,” on the track.
Earlier this month (April), Kesha failed in her legal bid to be released from her contract with pop producer Dr Luke (real name Lukasz Gottwald) and record label Sony. Kesha accuses him of drugging and raping her a decade ago, allegations that he has denied.
A New York judge threw the singer’s contract release appeal case out of court after Sony said they will not push the artist to work exclusively with Dr Luke.
Zedd is signed to Interscope, a subsidiary of Sony’s rival Universal.
