Kid Cudi confirms ‘Indicud’ album for April release

Scott Mescudi's MGMT-sampling third solo album will come out on April 22

Kid Cudi is set to release his third studio album, ‘Indicud’, on April 22.

The album will feature singles ‘Just What I Am’, ‘King Wizard’ and ‘Immortal’ – which samples MGMT‘s ‘Congratulations’. You can hear latest single ‘Immortal’, by scrolling down.

Speaking to Billboard about the album, Cudi – real name Scott Mescudi – said: “Each song is like a chapter of my diary”.

He also spoke about making his own beats for the record, commenting:

“That’s the beauty of this album. The ideas are coming straight from me and me only. It’s exactly what I want to the T. I went out of my way to make ‘Immortal’ sound perfect. ‘Immortal’, ‘Just What I Am’ and ‘King Wizard’ those are perfect beats. Not a lot of people can perform on them. I say that meaning they’re tailor-made for me. That’s the cool shit.”

In terms of the heavily disguised MGMT sample on ‘Immortal’, Cudi said: “…most people wouldn’t know that was ‘Congratulations’ unless I said anything. It’s almost unrecognisable. It doesn’t sound like I just chopped up a bunch of shit.

Kid Cudi recently signed up for a supporting role in the Need For Speed movie.

The film is being based on the popular series of racing car video games by Electronic Arts, which has now sold over 100 million copies worldwide. Last October, Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul was cast as the film’s lead.

Kid Cudi‘s acting CV includes a recurring role on axed HBO show How To Make It In America and several upcoming indie flicks.

Earlier this year, Cudi took to Twitter to criticise his record label over a lack of radio airplay.
