KID ROCK is to perform with rap legends GRANDMASTER FLASH and CHUCK D in a tribute to Run-DMC and the late JAM MASTER JAY at a US awards ceremony.
The trio will team-up at the ‘VH1 Big In 2002 Awards’, which are recorded at the Los Angeles’ Grand Olympic Auditorium and will be premiered on the music channel in the UK on January 1 at 8pm.
It is currently unclear exactly what is being planned, however organisers claim the performance will “highlight the legacy of one of hip-hop’s most influential pioneers”.
The tribute will also feature the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be accepted by Jam Master Jay’s [a][/a] partners Reverend Run and D.M.C.
The star, real name Jason Mizell, was one of two men shot in an incident inside a studio in Queens, New York (October 30). He was shot in the head and died at the scene. A second man was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital. As yet, no arrests have been made.
