Run The Jewels announce new album ‘RTJ2’

Killer Mike and El-P will put out their second collaborative LP on October 28

Run The Jewels will release their new album ‘RTJ2’ on October 28.

The second collaborative album between Killer Mike and El-P will feature guest appearances from Rage Against The Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. Listen to the LP’s lead track ‘Blockbuster Night Part 1’ below. Speaking about the album, El-P commented: “We are very excited to bring you the next chapter of Run The Jewels via the good folks at Mass Appeal. We can make no promises about the safety of any animals involved in the creation of this record”. Killer Mike has said: “It is the best rap group album since ‘RTJ1’!” They released their debut LP in 2013.

Speaking about the second album earlier this year, Killer Mike told Rolling Stone that he and his partner were like “rabid dogs” making the record. “[It’s] much darker and much harder than I thought it would be. It’s pushed me into some darker crevices of my personality,” he said.

“We’re knee-deep in creating. Throwing flows and patterns out, just picking beats we like. It’s all pretty instinctual. We’re just in there rapping like rabid dogs right now. Neither one of us are resting on our laurels.”
