The Killers pay tribute to late Luke Perry and thank him for appearance in ‘¡Happy Birthday Guadalupe!’ video

The Killers have paid tribute to the late Luke Perry, after his death was announced yesterday.

The celebrated actor, who was best known for his roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 and, more recently, Riverdale, was hospitalised last week after he suffered a massive stroke at his LA home.

Perry’s death was confirmed yesterday (March 4) by his representative Arnold Robinson.

As tributes continue to flood in for the star, The Killers hailed Perry by remembering his appearance in the video for their Christmas track ”¡Happy Birthday Guadalupe!’

In the 2009 clip, Perry is seen assuming the role of a lovestruck cowboy who wanders the desert. His appearance is interspersed with footage of Mexican dancers wearing Día de los Muertos face paints.

“So sad to lose Luke Perry. He did an amazing job in “¡Happy Birthday Guadalupe!” for no compensation, because all went to charity,” wrote The Killers on Instagram.

“An honor to have him in the video. He will be greatly missed.”

Confirming Perry’s death in a statement, Arnold Robinson said: “He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends.”

“The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”
