Blues legend in stable condition
Legendary blues guitarist BB King has been hospitalised due to a fever following a bout with the flu.
81-year-old King is reportedly in stable condition at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and is expected to be discharged over the weekend.
“He’s doing great,” Tina France, vice president of Lieberman Management of New York, told the Associated Press. “He’s in good spirits and cracking jokes.”
Due to the hospitalisation, King — who has a history of diabetes — had to cancel a performance at the Grand Opera House in Galveston, Texas. His agency said he plans to go ahead with a performance scheduled for Tuesday in Fort Worth.
Late last year, King was honoured by President George W. Bush with the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his musical contributions.
