Band spot fans who don't know their earlier records
Kings Of Leon have admitted that their fourth album has been so successful that many of their fans think their older material is brand new.
The band, who are headlining V Festival this weekend (August 21-22), said that at some of their recent shows punters who only know ‘Only By The Night’ thought they were debuting songs from forthcoming album ‘Come Around Sundown’, when they were actually delving into their back catalogue.
“The other night there was someone on the front row and we had played a new song, and then we played ‘Trani’ which is off our first album,” Nathan Followill told Absolute Radio. “I saw the girl look at another girl and say, ‘Is this another new song?’ So it’s like a lot of them don’t know the difference.”
Kings Of Leon are now set to headline the closing night of V Festival 2010 at the Staffordshire site tonight (22), see NME.COM for a full report.
NME is coming live from both V Festival sites this weekend. Head to NME.COM/festivals for full coverage. Plus make sure you buy next week’s issue of NME to get the definitive review of V Festival, either on UK newstands from August 25 or available digitally worldwide.
