Kings Of Leon have premiered a new trailer promo video for their forthcoming album ‘Mechanical Bull’ starring Danny DeVito – scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to watch.
Rather than featuring any of the Followill clan themselves – or any of the music from the LP – the comedic clip instead shows the plight of a filmmaker only named as Dennis, who struggles to make a competent film for the band.
‘Mechanical Bull’ will be released on September 24. Bassist Jared Followill told NME in March of this year: “I thought we were going to make a really mature album but I’m amazed how youthful it sounds.” Subsequently, Jared has revealed that the album is “more musically complicated” than the band’s previous efforts. In a Q&A with fans on Twitter in May 27, he also said the “vibe” of the record could be compared to their first two albums – 2003’s ‘Youth & Young Manhood’ and 2004’s ‘Aha Shake Heartbreak’ – but that the songs sounded like a “culmination” of all their previous work.
Since then, drummer Nathan Followill has said that the LP is influenced by Queens Of The Stone Age. Followill said that one track on the group’s new LP is reminiscent of Josh Homme’s work, while other influences included Sly And The Family Stone and country music.
Yesterday, meanwhile, frontman Caleb Followill revealed that the band had previously considered dropping their hit single ‘Sex On Fire’ from their live shows, due to fans who went to their gigs and then left once they’d played the track.
