The former Saturday Night Live man will helm the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire gig stream
Comedian Fred Armisen will direct the webcast of Kings Of Leon‘s gig at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire next month.
The show, which takes place on August 9, is part of the American Express Unstaged series of concerts. Similar events have taken place with Vampire Weekend, whose show was directed by Steve Buscemi, and The Killers, whose show was directed by Werner Herzog. The gig will be streamed by both YouTube and Vevo, reports the Associated Press.
The gig takes place six days before Kings Of Leon’s huge headline show at Belfast’s Boucher Road Playing Fields on August 14, with their V Festival headline shows happening on August 17-18.
The band’s new album ‘Mechanical Bull’ is out on September 24. Bassist Jared Followill told NME in March of this year: “I thought we were going to make a really mature album but I’m amazed how youthful it sounds.”
Frontman Caleb Followill has said that the band had felt under no pressure while making the highly-anticipated new LP. “I think the last one took the pressure off us,” he said. “‘Come Around Sundown’ followed up what was at the point the biggest record of our career [2008’s ‘Only By The Night’], so going into this record it was like, ‘The monkey’s off our back, we don’t have that pressure of whether we’re going to be able to match what the last record did.’ We changed it up a bit on this record.”
