Kings of Leon to play scaled-down show at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire in August

Band will warm up for V Festival headline slot with intimate gig

Kings Of Leon will warm up for their headline slot at V Festival 2013 with a gig at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire next month.

The band, who release their new album ‘Mechanical Bull’ in September, will play the small west London venue on August 9. The gig takes place six days before a huge headline gig at Glasgow’s Boucher Road Playing Fields with the V Festival headline shows happening on August 17-18. Tickets for the London date go on sale priced £65 this Friday (July 26) at 9am. Scroll down for more ticket information.

‘Mechanical Bull’ is out on September 24. Bassist Jared Followill told NME in March of this year: “I thought we were going to make a really mature album but I’m amazed how youthful it sounds.”

Frontman Caleb Followill has said that the band had felt under no pressure while making the highly-anticipated new LP. “I think the last one took the pressure of us,” he said. “‘Come Around Sundown’ followed up what was at the point the biggest record of our career [2008’s ‘Only By The Night’], so going into this record it was like, ‘The monkey’s off our back, we don’t have that pressure of whether we’re going to be able to match what the last record did.’ We changed it up a bit on this record.”

Taking place over the weekend of August 17-18 at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire, the two-day event will see the band take to the main stage alongside fellow headliner Beyoncé.
