Kings Of Leon played a brand new song at their rescheduled Governors Ball performance yesterday (June 8).
The band were due to headline the festival on New York’s Randall’s Island on Friday night, but the festival was suspended due to unsafe weather conditions before the band could take to the stage.
Kings of Leon played the new song, believed to be taken from their forthcoming sixth album, Mechanical Bull, mid-way through their set, which kicked off at 6.45pm (ET) and came ahead of the night’s original headliners, Guns N’Roses.

The show, which was the band’s first New York City gig in three years, saw the band performing a host of songs from throughout their career. Caleb also made mention of their rearranged slot, excusing their lack of flashy stage design on the fact that their set-up had already been sent to London ahead of their forthcoming UK arena tour.
Caleb commented: “How are you guys doing out there? It’s a beautiful day. As you guys know we were supposed to be doing this last night, and we’re supposed to be getting ready to go to London right about now… but some of our equipment had to go on ahead, but we’re still going to give you our best show.”
The follow-up to 2010’s ‘Come Around Sundown’ will be released on September 24 and was recorded with longtime producer Angelo Petraglia in the band’s studio in Nashville. The band recently said it’s “more musically complicated” than previous efforts.
Before the LP is released, the band will headline this summer’s V festival. Taking place over the weekend of August 17-18 at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire, the two-day event will see the band take to the main stage along with Beyoncé – which will be her only European festival appearance this year.
They will also play shows in London, Manchester and Birmingham in June and July, staring at London’s O2 Arena on June 12 and 13 before playing Manchester Arena on June 24 and 25. The tour then runs to Birmingham’s LG Arena on July 9-10.
