Kurt Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean reportedly files for divorce after 21 months of marriage

Courtney Love wasn't invited to 23-year-old's wedding to Isaiah Silva

Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, has filed for divorce from her husband 21 months after getting married, according to reports.

The 23-year-old is thought to have wed Isaiah Silva, frontman of band The Eeries and Cobain’s boyfriend of five years, at an intimate ceremony in June 2014. Around 15 guests reportedly attended the wedding but mother Courtney Love was allegedly not invited.

People Magazine now reports that Cobain has filed for divorce from Silva, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. The publication claims to have obtained the official divorce documents.

The report also claims that Cobain has argued that her husband should not be entitled to any money from her father’s estimated $450 million (£320m) estate.

Frances Bean Cobain served as executive producer on the 2015 documentary about her father, Montage of Heck.

Cobain told an audience at the film’s premiere: “I didn’t know Kurt but I think he would have been very proud of this film.” She continued: “It touches on some dark subjects, but at the end of the day, I think this film provides fans of Nirvana or not fans of Nirvana a basic understanding of who Kurt was as a human being.”

Cobain had previously commented on the legacy of her father ahead of the film’s release. Speaking to Rolling Stone, she described her father’s influence and status in popular culture as being “inescapable” and said that he’s been placed “on a pedestal”.
