The Antipodean pop princess covers the seasonal classic 'Santa Baby' on her new single...

KYLIE MINOGUE has followed in MADONNA’S footsteps to cover seasonal classic ‘SANTA BABY’ for a CHRISTMAS release – and is on the verge of announcing a full UK tour in 2001.

The cover – one of dozens done over the years – backs up mixes of the Latin-influenced ‘Light Years’ album track ‘Please Stay’, and Kylie’s spokesman tells NME.COM that her version is “really good – sexy, breezy and seductive”. Another B-side, ‘Good Life’, has been co-written by Kylie with collaborator Steve Anderson. ‘Please Stay’ is due for release on 11 December

Dates for Kylie’s UK tour are due to be announced later in the week. In the meantime, Kylie has announced that she will be performing on the Royal Variety Show on 5 December and the Smash Hits Awards at London’s Docklands Arena on 10 December.

Kylie is also due to perform ‘Kids’ with Robbie Williams at the MTV Europe Awards in Stockholm on Thursday.
