KYLIE ‘HEAD’S HELPLINE CAMPAIGN

The star re-jigs 'Can't Get You Out My Head' to promote a helpline for students in Cardiff...

Kylie Minogue has rewritten the lyrics to her Number One smash hit ‘CAN’T GET YOU OUT OF MY HEAD’ especially for a Welsh university.

The jingle will help promote a student helpline at Cardiff University. It is due to be broadcast for the first time this week as Freshers’ Week begins – when the star’s new lyrics will be revealed.

The Australian diva, whose mother was born in Maesteg and still has family living in Wales, often helps charities.

But a spokesperson for her record label, EMI Capitol, told The Western Mail that Kylie Minogue had chosen to help the Cardiff University scheme “because she felt it was a very worthwhile cause”.

The star’s spokesperson added that there are a number of things the pop princess has done for charity that the record label are never aware of, because she prefers to do things privately.

Daniel Weaver, the helpline’s coordinator, said: “It’s good to know that even though she’s an international pop star, she’s still interested in ordinary people.”

He revealed the link to Kylie Minogue came about when she was performing at Cardiff’s International Arena on her UK tour earlier in the year.

“We sent an information pack and a blank minidisc to Kylie Minogue‘s hotel,” said Daniel. “We didn’t hear anything back for months, so we thought nothing more of it.

“But then we got the minidisc back through the post with Kylie Minogue‘s jingle on it.”
