The singer will be accompanied by family and close friends…
Kylie Minogue could be admitted to hospital as early as today to begin treatment for breast cancer (May 18).
According to Australian reports, the star will be accompanied by family and close friends as she begins treatment in Melbourne.
Australian Prime Minister John Howard has also sent his best wishes to the star saying: “I think all Australians feel for her and wish her well.”
The singer’s website [url=]kylie.com has been closed due to the “overwhelming response” from fans sending messages of support.
As previously reported on NME.COM, a statement issued yesterday revealed that Kylie Minogue “will undergo immediate treatment”.
The star has been forced to cancel the Australian leg of her ’Showgirl’ tour – which was due to kick of tonight at the Sydney Superdome (May 19) – and her headlining appearance at this year’s Glastonbury festival while she receives treatment for breast cancer.
Steve Bracks, the Premier of the state of Victoria, has urged the media camped outside of the Kylie Minogue family home to respect the singer’s privacy.
He said: “These are private matters between the clinician and the patient and they are enshrined in laws as private matters.”
Kylie Minogue said yesterday (May 17); “I was so looking forward to bringing the Showgirl tour to Australia and to Glastonbury, and am sorry to have to disappoint my fans. Nevertheless, hopefully all will work out fine and I’ll be back with you all again soon”.
The tour was due to call at:
Sydney Superdome (May 19-21)
Melbourne Rod Laver Arena (23-25, 27-29)
Sydney Entertainment Centre (31, June 1-2)
Brisbane Entertainment Centre (4-6)
